Q: Why is the “Short Description” text box required and so important?

A: The “Short Description” should contain words from your “Full Description”. The “Short Description” should be from 150 and 200 characters long including spaces and not longer. The “Short Description” is used as a Meta-Description and helps search engines find your listing. Search engines send robots that crawl around our site collecting web addresses and the meta-tags that go with them, storing this information in their database. When you search say “Google”, google looks for the search term and returns a page address containing those words. When you make your “Short Description”, think of what someone might search for, like “home for sale” or “commercial property”, then look at your “Full Description” for those words and add them to your “Short Description”. Keep in mind, the better you write your “Short Description”, the higher and faster you will be ranked in the search engines! I use MSWord to write the “Full Description”, then copy and paste together the “Short Description”.
